This post was mentioned on Twitter by charlotteshj: still thinking abt #followanarchive: compiled some ideas on http://bit.ly/dBhKGc – more reccomendations? Should we set a date? #archives…
Good initiative, this voting! I never thought that my idea for #followanarchive would come so far!
I will write a blogpost om http://watvanwaardenis.wordpress.com to ask the archives in the Netherlands to fill in this form. BTW, there are more Dutch archives on Twitter as the National Archives! 🙂

hi Anneke van Waarden-Koets
Interesting to learn that more Dutch archives are on Twitter – please tell what archives – so we together can make a list that covers all archives on Twitter !! It could have the effect that even more archives would join – and we could have a discussion of what the effect is. For what reason should the archives be there ?
regards Bente Jensen, Aalborg City Archives (the archives have as an experiment been on twitter for a while – and the number of followers are growing slowy and steady)
I quite like:
– Australia: Aussie Archivists: (http://twitter.com/ausarchivists)
– Internet Archive (http://twitter.com/internetarchive)
– Netherlands: Beeld en Geluid (http://twitter.com/beeldengeluid)
– UK: YourArchives a.k.a. The National Archives’ wiki (http://twitter.com/YourArchives)
– US: National Archives (http://twitter.com/archivesnews)
– US: Purdue Archives (http://twitter.com/PurdueArchives)
Your list mentions Nationaal Archief/den haag, but this is not an official Twitter account of the Nationaal Archief. We do not know who is responsible for that Twitter account, although so far it has tweeted legitimite news. The official Nationaal Archief account is @NArchief, also in your list.
Hello all!
@Lotte & Yvette: I added your suggestions and comments to the list. Thanks for the input.
I have also found some additional Dutch Archives for the list. I have, however, not included institutions with only a few – not recent – tweets. Archives who are trying it out, waiting to get started for real (or who have given up) may not feel comfortable to be on the list….?
@Anneke: Thanks for all your posts, tweets and RT´s! When I made the page I actually thought that I was picking up on the tweets I had with some others on Feb 1st. at the “museumday” about making #followanarchive. I didn´t realize, if you were about to start something? I hope we didn´t clash with other plans? But it is great, if we can work together to se if the idea could be carried out!
[…] Twittering archives […]
Hi there!
After a long time of talking, twittering, and e-mailing my collegue @Poulus claimed the website http://www.followanarchive.com/ and started a blog http://followanarchive.blogspot.com/ with a twitterfountain that shows the tweets with the hastag #followanarchive and with a googlemap where archives who are on twitter can fill in thare names and twitteraccount (the map is still under construction). In june we will talk about #followanarchive on a congres of Dutch archivists. End of may/beginning of june there will be an interregional congres of the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxemburg. I will be there. And in august there will be an international meeting of archivistst in the Peace Palace in The Hague. Perhaps #followanarchive can be mentioned there as well.
Maybe we can set a date? On october 1st there will be a #followalibrary day. Perhaps November 1st is a nice day for a #followanarchiveday?
Best Regards, Anneke (ZeeuwsArchiefED)
